Concomitentes is the Spanish version of the French Nouveaux Commanditaires.

The underlying methodology of Concomitentes was developed by the artist François Hers in 1990 and has had an enormous social and cultural impact wherever it has been implemented. Over the past 25 years, it has given rise to more than 500 projects in various European countries.

In Spain, Concomitentes brings to a national level the discontinued project 'Nuevos Comanditarios Euskadi', which operated between 2011 and 2017 in Bilbao (Vizcaya), Oion (Álava), Hernani (Guipúzcoa) and Barakaldo (Bilbao); with Haizea Barcenilla, Idoia Zabaleta and Amanda Diaz-Ubierna as mediators; and with the production and support of Artehazia.

As Concomitentes, there are several initiatives at the European level that are governed by this same work methodology adapted to their local context.

Nouveaux Commanditaires, the entity through which the French, Belgian and Swiss initiatives operate, started the first projects in 1990. This was followed in 2007 by Neue Auftraggeber in Germany and a.titolo in Italy.

We are in continuous contact with our European colleagues, sharing ideas and promoting good practices.
