La querencia

“Querencia» is, in animals, the instinctive inclination to return to where they were born. It is also the name under which Ana Escariz Pérez and Ana Moure Rosende imagine and activate ecofeminist futures in Galicia. With close ties to territorial defence and climate activism, they work through participatory art and cultural mediation. Their projects are born alongside communities, in specific neighbourhoods and ecosystems, taking the form of actions, rituals or speculative fictions. 

At The stories of milk (Concomitantes) wondered if a cheese could defend A Ulloa from a threat like Altri or if a cow could be an activist; with Amara's oven (CGAC), if the Almáciga neighbourhood can reconstruct its memory from bread. Alongside La cuarta piel they brought Switch (Plans) are being made for CEIP As Covas: a series of useless actions to disrupt the daily routines of children. And at the FMJJ Art Centre, they are doing Weather questions together with families to gut the future.
