Silvia Ramírez Monroy

Silvia Ramírez Monroy (Ibagué, 1978) She is an artist and researcher. Doctor of Fine Arts (UCM, 2017), DEA in the doctorate State and Society in the History of America (UCM, 2010).

Studies the political and collaborative dimension of the arts, and the relationship between art, memory, and history. Has participated in group exhibitions and in cultural, editorial, and artistic projects. Internationally, she has experience in curating since 2019, when “Young Gazes from Ibero-America” (OEI – OIJ, Casa de la Panadería, Madrid) was held; additionally, she designed and directed the international programme of young cultural and artistic exchange: Journeys; and she was the coordinator and driving force behind the culture department at the International Youth Organisation. 

As part of the Partnership, it has developed the participatory research about migrant and/or racialised artists and creators in Madrid, supported by the MAR Platform (MNCARS, Carasso Foundation and Hablar en arte), from which the cycle of five exhibitions, for which you were curator, is derived: “Artists in the Interstices” produced in various independent venues in Madrid (2023). 

On an independent level, you have conceptualised and driven the collaborative curation of the exhibition “Subverted times. Interferences in museum space / time” (Museum of America, 2025/2026); and in collaboration with Fabio Manosalva and David Santamaría from “Mapeográfica. City Logbook” (Paco Rabal Cultural Centre, 2023). Among the contemporary creation processes linked to communities, particular mention goes to “Callejeras”, which received creation support from the Women's Institute, and “Poesía Nómada” (Nomadic Poetry).
