Iris Verge
Iris Verge (La Sénia, Catalonia, 1997): A curator, mediator, and cultural project manager in the visual arts field, she focuses her critical practice on the logic of territorial ordering from a class perspective. She has been part of the organisational team for institutions and initiatives such as the nomadic European biennial Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitan, the art centre Lo Pati in Amposta, cultural consultancy La Nuclear, or Connecta Natura, an association for the recovery of traditional agricultural varieties.
Their projects focus on political ecology and the deconstruction of power dynamics inherent in institutions, sometimes connecting contemporary artistic practices with grassroots movements. They have received support and commissions from institutions such as Sala d’Art Jove in Barcelona, Sant Andreu Contemporani (Barcelona), CCCC (València), CCESantiago (Santiago, Chile), Idensitat, CO-NET Art (Castelló), A Cobert (Moià), Espais AVAN (various rural towns in northern Valencia), Museu d’Art Modern de Tarragona (Tarragona), Centre d’Art Santa Mònica (Barcelona), and Fundació Brossa (Barcelona), among others.
She is currently undertaking the ‘Critical Studies’ programme at the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam and lectures at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
