Camena Camacho Cordovez

Carmen Elena (Camena) Camacho Cordovez (Quito, 1984) She is a mother, migrant, artist and cultural mediator. She develops her professional practice as an independent artist and within the cultural association La Parcería, where she researches, creates and mediates educational, cultural and artistic projects linked to decolonial thinking, the fight against racial discrimination, and relational and non-binary ontologies. Her work centres children, migrant communities and collective experiences, articulating ancestral knowledge, care practices and memory in the everyday life of each project. 

Her approach focuses on what she terms the “architecture of affection,” advocating for the intimate relationship between place, community, and memory, as part of the contextual experience of each project. She was President of La Parcería (2020-2025), leading networks and spaces for cultural and community mediation. She is currently Artistic Director at the Centre for Documentation and Artistic Experimentation of La Parcería (CCEDA_LP). 

Among the processes that have been designed and implemented are: Conversations with the Earth and its beings (La Parcería – CCEDA, Madrid – Ayuntamiento de Madrid, 2025) is a project of mediation, collective creation, and artistic research that invites migrant children and the children of migrants to explore, through play, the body, and sensory experience, new ways of relating to the earth and non-human beings; and Savia 1. How to play the Museum? (Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid, 2019 – 2025). A mediation and pedagogical curatorship project through ephemeral play and playful-artistic experiences, aimed at early childhood (0 to 7 years old) and their accompanying adults.
