Concomitentes presents 'Mediation Academy', an online training to foster social transformation through art

Concomitentes, an entity that develops artistic projects based on social demands, presents the first edition of ‘Mediation Academy. Artistic mediation for the common good’.’, The event will take place on the 19th and 20th of September and on the 2nd and 3rd of October in the afternoon.
This course seeks to situate artistic mediation as a participatory curatorial practice, combining knowledge related to Concomitentes' own experience, as well as other agents and ways of doing things in countries such as Germany, Austria and Italy. The questions that guide this edition will be linked to the generation of spaces of enunciation, the potential of artistic communities or the importance of the commons.

OBJECTIVES OF THE FORMAT AND TARGET AUDIENCE
The programme of the ‘Mediation Academy’, through theoretical knowledge, real experiences and practical dynamics, aims to strengthen the profile of the cultural management professional. Through the different training sessions, participants will learn about the development of participatory methodologies, how to create meeting spaces, facilitate places for listening and improve communication skills.
The proposal is aimed at professionals in the cultural sector (professionals in mediation, curatorship, cultural management, arts education, cultural promotion, among others), as well as postgraduate students and all types of professionals interested in integrating and applying learning about new methodologies related to citizen participation and artistic creation.
REGISTRATION METHOD AND PRICE
The course offers two types of enrolment: «LISTENING Mode».» (70 euros) for the attendance to the 9 sessions of the programme, and the «PARTICIPA mode».» (120 euros), which will allow to add to these 9 sessions, 11 hours of participative dynamics in which a group case study will be developed, with the support of the mentors assigned for the accompaniment*.
*To participate in this modality, additional information on education and professional experience will be requested in the registration form in order to create diverse and balanced groups.
*At the end of the course, conclusions and personalised feedback will be shared.

PANEL OF EXPERTS WHO WILL MAKE UP THE TEACHING PANEL
In this edition, the ‘Mediation Academy’ will be led by Fran Quiroga, General Coordinator of Concomitants, and Marina Otero Verzier, architect and visiting professor at Columbia University in New York.

Asunción Molinos Gordo, researcher and visual artist.

Matteo Lucchetti, curator at Museo delle Civiltá, The Visible Project and Pompeii Commitment.
Selina Blasco, Professor of Art History at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Veronica Valentini, curator, researcher, curator-measurer and founder of E.M.M.A and BAR Project.
Christian Fernández Mirón, mediator and artist, invited as a facilitator and performer during the breaks and pauses of the course.
This team will also be joined, in an advisory capacity, Antón González, Concomitentes' head of alliances; Alicia Ruiz, Programme Officer, and Noelia Barrientos, The organisation's head of communications.
