Llaqtawasi Presentation Day
On Saturday 18th July, from 7pm to 9:30pm, the Llaqtawasi collective will hold its presentation day at Esta es una plaza.
The clouds are moving, seeking to release their rain, the pollen is moving on the heads, snouts, chests and backs of the pollinating bats, the whales are moving towards tropical waters, and people are moving in search of places to live with dignity.
Many beings migrate because the territory they inhabited can no longer sustain life in the same way. Sometimes due to drought, heat, or the transformation of ecosystems. Sometimes due to war, inequality, violence, extractivism, or lack of opportunities.
However, not all people or territories suffer the consequences of the climate crisis in the same way. There are deep environmental inequalities that particularly affect those with fewer resources or who have been historically displaced.
Llaqtawasi arises precisely from this reflection: how can we create spaces for refuge, shade, care, and encounter in our neighbourhood where people, knowledge, and memories arriving from different territories can mutually recognise and strengthen themselves?
This first session proposes we meet through the movements of life, recognising human and non-human migrations, collectively imagining what a refuge means, and beginning to build the collective memory of Llaqtawasi.
Life moves, but no life should do so alone.
