A meeting against drought through collective artistic practice
The concomitance “Non plus ultra” celebrates a new public meeting against the imaginaries of drought through collective artistic practice. The meeting will take place on Saturday 21 June, in Los Santos de Maimona (Badajoz), at UHT (Antigua cementera, c/ Paraje La Nava s/n).
“El agua brota sin avisar” claims the collective creative power and the unexpected to generate spaces of encounter and generation of stories. Throughout the day, those who attend will be able to enjoy a programme of activities that responds to the threat of the climate crisis and depopulation through joy and encounter.
Programme:
As of 18.00h and as the heat begins to subside, the artist Francesc Ruiz will give a workshop on fanzine printing and self-publishing, sharing part of the artistic commission he is developing for “Non plus ultra”, which will be presented next autumn.
At 21.00h, under the title Where the ground and the air touch water sounds, Élan d'Orphium will invite us to walk through and listen to the olive groves and the underground water that runs through them in a collective intervention.
And from 22.30h, the collective UHT has prepared a “sonorous aquifer”, a music session with DJs such as Bizantina and Ramaseca, to end the night dancing in the cool of the night.
How to participate in the meeting?
Just come to the address at the appointed time.
Non plus ultra is a project mediated by Jose Iglesias García-Arenal with a group of committees consisting of Young people from the diffuse urbanities of southern Badajoz. The aim of the concomitance is to find healthier ways of relating to the territory, beyond colonial and patriarchal discourses. From October 2024, the artist Francesc Ruiz works on the project to carry out the artwork commissioned by the commissioning group.
