Illustrator adela por dios and journalist Andrea Morán join Quásares

The Quasares group of principals selects the people in charge of carrying out their commission.

The concomitance Quásares has decided to add two new creative voices to its project: the illustrator Adela Angulo (known in networks as "Adela for God's sake".) and the sound documentarist Andrea Moran. Both are working on the production of works born from direct dialogue with cancer patients and health professionals, with the aim of offering tools for emotional support through art.

Art as emotional support

From a perspective focused on emotional well-being, both artists are developing two complementary pieces:

-Adela Angulo ("Adela por dios") has been working since January 2025 on a series of illustrations that deal with the emotions that many cancer patients go through with humour and sensitivity. Her proposal seeks to de-dramatise the disease and offer a more human, honest and close look.

-Andrea Morán, who joined in March 2025, is producing a sound documentary that explores the emotional geography of patients. Her work aims to become a tool for mutual support among those living with cancer, building a map of shared experiences and affections.

The two proposals are built from a process of cultural mediation that involves active listening, collaborative work and co-creation with patients, health staff and other agents involved in the project.

In addition to the works to be carried out by Angulo and Morán, the project has developed an online collection of more than 50 cultural works on cancer (https://coleccion.quasares.es), is preparing a dissemination strategy based on visual and sound essays, and will culminate in a meeting on culture and health in September 2025. In addition, the publication of a choral book on the synergies between art and oncology is underway.

About the artists:

Adela Angulo (Lora del Río, 1991) is a doctor by training and an artist by vocation. After a decade dedicated to medicine, she decided to focus on her career as an illustrator, becoming a reference in mental health, feminism and social criticism. Her first book, Si te pierdes mira dentro, has been published eleven times. She has collaborated with initiatives such as The Sevillaner, the 21 Distritos festival in Madrid and the Caixaforum, and is currently developing theatre projects with the Sevillian company La Decadensia.

Andrea Moran (Figueres, 1988) is a journalist, filmmaker and sound producer. She has directed several documentary podcasts, nominated for the Premios Ondas Globales, such as Ferrándiz. Alrededor de un asesino en serie and Los expulsados del paraíso. Her work moves between documentary film, sound experimentation and performance, with stage proposals presented at Matadero Madrid and the ALCINE festival.
