Opening of BAM: Alternative proposal
The proposal that we will be able to see on the stage located on Barcelona's Rambla del Raval, is part of the kermesse, The festival, an ancient popular festival that commemorated the founding of a church, gradually moved to the neighbourhoods to become a gathering to celebrate and share in which fair, music, dance, assembly, spectacle and food coexist. This simultaneity of artistic genres promotes contact between bodies, creating a sense of community and signifying enjoyment and festivity as political events.
It will seek to create a space of intersectional celebration for all bodies, celebrating diversities and differences in order to jointly break down the discriminations that segment and separate. Among the guests on stage will be writer and activist Brigitte Vasallo as a town crier; feminist activist and anti-disability activist OYIRUM as master of ceremonies; the dance-theatre duo Jaume Girbau and Carla Caríssima; y Vaginoplasty y Mariokissme making music.
The conceptual axes of this year's BAM are six: dissidence, revisiting roots, club and urban music and collectivity, self-management, extreme music and emergence. Of the thirty or so artists invited, we will be able to see such diverse proposals as Frantic Amber, Moon Ki, Asma Hamzaoui, Madras Poster o Anika 9.
