The Paediatric ICU project, winner of the 'Nursing in Development 2022 Special Award'.

The recognition was the surprise of the FUDEN (Foundation for the Development of Nursing) gala that took place last Friday 25th, at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Our concomitance in Tenerife, Paediatric ICU, is in luck, as it has been recognised with the ‘Special Award for Nursing in Development 2022’ by the Foundation for Nursing Development thanks to their work, journey and results in combining the capacities of art and health to enhance emotional care in paediatric patients and which have resulted in three artistic and cultural works: a podcast, a illustrated story and a mobile library.
The award, the surprise of the evening held on Friday 25th November at the Teatro Real in Madrid, was collected by the five award winners -Quique Chinea, Lili Quintero, Ruymán Morales, Seve Torres and Laura León-, members of the nursing staff of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, whose driving force for initiating this project was to provide tools for their professional work to better attend to the emotional care of patients in the paediatric intensive care area of the hospital.
The project, which presented its final results in a closing event which took place on 15 September in Tenerife, is currently in a phase to boost the results obtained in this five-year journey and to ensure that paediatric ICUs in the rest of Spain begin to incorporate the three works to promote and improve the work of nursing staff and help children and families to go through the experience of being admitted to a paediatric ICU.
