The pipes
Non plus ultra, concomitance mediated by Jose Iglesias García-Arenal, was born in the south of Extremadura with the aim of contributing to generate narratives for the territory beyond colonial and patriarchal discourses.
Understanding that there was a correlation between the literal drought of the ecosystems of southern Badajoz and the more metaphorical drought of stories in the area, the group of commissioners commissioned the artist Francesc Ruiz to create a work that would help to generate new stories for the territory and highlight the richness that already exists in the area.
In response, the artist Francesc Ruiz created the comic strip The pipes, The project imagines a Polígono Los Caños (Zafra) where water springs from the pillars again, where the lorries, which look more like ships, have eyes, mouths and thirst, where historical memory is embraced and the ecosystems do not collapse.
Playing with the expanded comic, the comic ended up overflowing its own format and ended up circulating around the territory in the form of a poster that was used to wallpaper Los Santos de Maimona, an intervention in the magazine El mensajero, a vinyl in an abandoned petrol station, some stickers...
In addition to Ruiz's work, his work led to the purchase of a risograph printing press called El chorrillo, which the inhabitants of the south of Badajoz will be able to use to continue printing stories.
