Couso Mountains

The Couso community focuses its role on turning the forest into a multifunctional resource of value and an inexhaustible source of resources to achieve a forest with greater environmental value and a more respectful environment with native tree species. They are pioneers in alternative mountain production: raspberry, blueberry, currant, chestnut, or the variety of «shiitake» mushrooms. Montes de Couso has been recognised as an example of good management, appearing in the UN ICCA register and has received the IRGADE award for the promotion of the Galician language.
