The illustrated story ‘Hospitalario’, by the Galician author O Haematocritic, The main characters are two children who, through their exchange and conversation, discuss the key points that a patient in a paediatric ICU will go through. The result is a publication, marked by tenor and humour, that helps boys and girls in an ICU to go through their hospitalisation process.

After a first limited edition, the Galician publishing house specialised in children's and young people's books ‘Green Triquettes’, reedited and launched a second edition of ‘Hospitalario’ that will be presented in the public event ‘O conto detrás do conto’ on Thursday, March 21st at 18.30hrs, in the Domus Museum of A Coruña. This meeting will be attended by the mediator who guided the project, Felipe G. Gil by ZEMOS98; a Galician writer, Ledicia Costas; e Victor Mascato, of ‘Triqueta Verde’.

The publication, illustrated by the Canarian artist Cynthia Hierro, xorde do proceso participativo de Concomitentes, Paediatric ICU, developed together with the mediator Felipe G. Gil from ZEMOS98, and five nurses from the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Nosa Señora de Candelaria University Hospital in Tenerife, to create a device that helps these professionals to manage the emotional care of small patients and their families during the experience of admission to an Intensive Care Unit. Hospitalario‘, which will be available in Spanish, Galician and Catalan in bookshops throughout Spain, is the result of five years of work (2018 to 2022) to provide nurses with the tools to better attend to the emotional care of paediatric patients, and focuses on the care and care of children who are going through a hospital stay.

The Hematocrítico, who died at the end of 2023, (A Coruña, 1976) was the author of projects guided by humour and managed throughout his career to combine children's literature with teaching. His collections include ‘Lendas do recreo’ with Albert Monteys or ‘Feliz Feroz’, ‘Axente Ricitos’ and ‘O lobo con botas’, together with the illustrator Alberto Vázquez. Cynthia Hierro, the illustrator from the Canary Islands, better known as Limoneti, has a career that began in 2015 with the brand creation project, Amarelo Limón, in which she is the designer of stationery, home and textile products, which she combined with other commissions.

Today, thanks to this relaunch, the legacy of Hematocrítico continues its journey to reach new readers all over Spain.
