Those shortlisted will have until Friday, 21 June, to further develop their initial idea, after which a presentation will be made to the jury from which the winning proposal will emerge.

Six projects (one more than the five foreseen) have passed on to the «Phase 2: Proposal» from the third edition of the ‘Youth Art for Sustainability Call for Proposals’.’ This is the second year of Concomitentes, aimed at citizen groups under the age of 35 who want to address an environmental challenge in their environment through a new participatory art project.

The six shortlisted proposals will have until friday, 21 june, at 23:59hrs, to further develop their initial idea. In addition, this second phase will be remunerated with 200 euros (taxable base) and will include a mentoring session by the Concomitentes team and the possibility of presenting the project to the jury that will select the winner.

The six projects are:

Disseminating futures: sustaining life in the Corneja Valley (Ávila, Castilla y León): Álex Martínez, from the BajoTeja Platform, presents himself together with the collective of 17 young people ‘Habitar el valle’, to defend this environment located in Sierra de Gredos (from mining and emptying) by reconstructing the environmental and cultural affectivity of the young people who inhabit these places.

The green concord (Cantabria): With Matías Rubio as mediator, and the young collective ‘Las Bardales’, this proposal seeks to promote dialogue with livestock associations, town councils and livestock farmers belonging to the Campoo - Cabuérniga Association and Community in order to promote extensive livestock farming that also protects the sources of biodiversity.

L'ayalga (Asturias): A proposal signed by the mediator, Ana Prendes, and the citizen group, focused on citizen science and environmental education ‘Saxum’, which aims to promote understanding and mobilise action against the environmental challenges of the marine coast of Xixón.

Os contos do leite (Galicia): Two mediators, Ana Escariz and Ana Moure, aim to work together with the ‘Plataforma Ulloa Viva’ in this environment full of extensive farming projects and agro-ecological projects linked to milk production and processing. It is necessary to emphasise a just ecological transition that ensures food sovereignty.

Storm is coming (Aragón): The group gathered in ‘The people of Orrios’ together with ‘FEO’, and guided by the mediator Jaime Guillén, tackle the increasingly tangible problems of the climate crisis in the territory, especially those related to the desertification of their land, the new relationship with water patterns and how these affect the lives of the people who live in Orrios and its surroundings.

Terra Insurgent (Valencia): Promoted by the mediator, Chiara Sgaramella, together with ‘La Comissió Ciutat-Port’, made up of neighbourhood, environmental and trade union groups in Valencia, the project seeks to participate in land-use planning to defend food sovereignty and protect l'Horta and other natural spaces from extractive projects.

Many thanks to the 37 projects that have been presented, the quality of the proposals is not only an example of how necessary it is to address through art and culture, the environmental challenges of our time.
