An informal conversation between philosopher Bruno Latour and art historian Joseph Leo Koerner.

The German project, New contract holder, recovers the conversation between the philosopher, Bruno Latour (Burgundy, 1947), and the art historian, Joseph Leo Koerner (Pittsburgh, 1958), originally recorded for the publication Faire art comme on fait société (Les presses du réel, 2013), with a view to illuminate a journey through the history of art, patronage and citizen participation since its beginnings to its more contemporary formats. «People don't find a possible connection, because the artist is too autonomous and too many people despair of modern or contemporary art. They think it's not for them, and yet there is a demand for art», explains Latour to start an exchange that delves into the project. New Commanders, born in France in 1990, from the protocol by the Belgian artist, François Hers, to reconnect art with social demands.
