The Haematocritic will create a graphic history for Paediatric ICU patients

The work responds to the need for a narrative object to help manage patients' feelings.
The Galician author, Miguel López, better known as The Hematocritic, is the second artist selected for our concomitance in Tenerife, and he will be in charge of the creation of a graphic history for children admitted to the Paediatric ICU. of the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, where the project is being developed.
Our Canary Islands partnership identified in its research and reflection process of more than three years of trajectory, the the need for a physical object of a narrative nature that could help nurses to manage the emotions and feelings of hospitalised children. This work is conceived as an attractive cultural and artistic product, worth consuming, and one that inspires children in their transition through the experience of hospitalisation.
Last May, the artist met with the team of commissioners in Tenerife, laying the foundations for this commission in order to start with the ideation and artistic production of this story. This second work is in addition to the podcast by the journalist Elena Cabrera, announced a few weeks ago, which aims to uncover the “black box” that surrounds the ICU.
A second creative process is starting for UCI Paediatrics, and we will be telling you about its details and progress.
