Back in March, the group of commissioners fell in love with the artists“ collective Futurefarmers. After doing in February a dynamic called ”the traffic light", in which we refined the desires that the group had regarding the work of art that we wanted to produce, we held another session in which, in a kind of Tinder, the mediators presented the group with a selection of artists that we thought could match their expectations. They were unanimously in love with Future Farmers, so we got in touch with them, and they confirmed that they would be delighted to participate in the project.
In autumn, Luana and Jona, two of the members of Futurefarmers, travelled to Ulloa to make a first visit to the land and meet the group of comitentes and other inhabitants of the area.
With them, we were able to visit several of the clients in their homes and work spaces, they participated in the visit “A Ulloa do 2060”, which functioned as an affective map of the territory, and we also visited the Arousa estuary, where the Ulla river flows into the sea, where they spent a lot of time. We were also able to make an excursion with Iván Oriois to the limits of the Quintas estate - the place where they intend to install Altri - where the lake is located. The Futurefarmers showed great interest in the production of Arzúa-Ulloa cheese, as well as in the artisan fermentation of Josefa's cheese.
At Futurefarmers, they work on building what they call “relational objects”, objects that allow us to be in a specific state or to approach things in a specific way. Before leaving, the artists wanted to hold a session with the group of commissioners to explain where their research was heading and to put us all on the same page. They then decided to build the four stomachs of a cow out of cotton wool and tea and take them to the river Ulla.

EXT- DAY. FINCA DE QUINTAS.
It's sunny. A cow grazes quietly around the lake of the Quintas estate.
EXT. DAY. ULLA RIVER
A group of people enter the river Ulla accompanied by enormous cow stomachs: a rumen, a reticulum, an omasum and an abomasum. Each person reads a text that presents him/her as a “caretaker” of the river. A tricopter, a red heron, a merinoi armeria, a centaurea Gallaecia, a bufo das xunqueiras, a margaritífera... all of them are found in the stomachs of the cows that graze on the Quintas estate.
Atoparémonos ante a vaca activista? How does the story continue?
On her next visit Amy will join Jona and Luana and we will start the production of the play. We will tell you more details later.
