Four experts will form the committee to select the winning project of the Concomitentes call for proposals.

Aimar Arriola, head of the ‘Intermediae’ programme at Matadero Madrid; the artist, Carme Nogueira; Clara Montero, cultural director of Tabakalera; and the researcher, Michael Marder; will join the coordinator of Concomitentes, Fran Quiroga and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation to define the winning project.

We share with you the profile and trajectory of the panel of experts that will select the winning project of the third edition of the ‘Youth Art for Sustainability Call‘:

Aimar Arriola is a curator, editor and researcher. A graduate of the PEI - Independent Studies Programme at MACBA, he holds a PhD in Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London. He has been Associate Researcher (2020-2023) at AZ Alhóndiga Bilbao, member of the Technical Commission of the Eremuak programme (2019-2023) and editor of the project ‘The Against Nature Journal’, Council, Paris (2017-2023). He is currently in charge of the Intermediae programme at Matadero Madrid.

Carme Nogueira. Her artistic career has been marked by working with processes of subjectivisation and the normalising function of spaces through research processes. Her concerns are related to intimacy, public and domestic space, promoting other narratives. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and a PhD from the University of Vigo. In addition to various projects and collaborations, she has been the artist of the Concomitentes project, Legado Cuidado.

Clara Montero is an art historian and cultural manager. Born in San Sebastian, she studied art history, psychology and pedagogy at the University of Frankfurt. After working at the Faculty of Art History in Frankfurt and in art galleries in Zurich, she returned to the Basque Country in 2008 to join Tabakalera as activities coordinator. In 2012 she was appointed director of cultural promotion for the Basque Government. She is currently cultural director of Tabakalera in San Sebastian.

Michael Marder is IKERBASQUE Research Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU), Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. His writings cover the fields of ecological theory, phenomenology and political thought. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and monographs, including ‘Plant-Thinking’ (2013) and ‘Pyropolitics in a World in Flames’ (2023), among others. At the same time, the following will also form part of the jury on behalf of the organising body and as representatives of the funding bodies Fran Quiroga, The coordinator of Concomitentes and mediator of Legado Cuidado; and a representative of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation.

The call for applications, which was launched on 25 April, is in “Phase 2” of the selection process of the six shortlisted projects, The selected proposal will be announced in early July.
