Connexions Metabòliques kicks off in L'Horta de València

The conference will take place on 3 October in Castellar L'Oliveral (Valencia).
L'Horta de València is an ecosystem that supplies the city with fresh and local food, and offers important environmental benefits such as the presence of natural and cultivated biodiversity, the mitigation of extreme weather phenomena, among others. However, it is an agrosystem under threat, especially after the recent reform of the L'Horta Law and the consequent de-protection of 3800 hectares of protected land. This is why it is more necessary than ever to open a participatory process to help preserve this territory and to collectively imagine its future.
Metabolic connections. Climate and community agriculture was created with the aim of making visible the role of the food sovereignty in the restoration of the Valencian territory after the 2024 DANA and the fundamental role of l'Horta de Valencia in mitigating the effects of the climate crisis. Over the next two years we will develop a participatory artistic process to answer these questions.
This process foresees a first phase of listening and then generating an artistic commission that includes the demands of the citizen collectives involved. The artist or artistic collective that receives the commission will develop an artistic work that will remain in the community. With this objective Metabolic connections invites neighbours to participate in the first mediation session which will take place at Castellar L'Oliveral on 3 October 2025.
