Extremadura project ‘Non Plus Ultra’, winner of the Arte Juventud por la Sostenibilidad (Youth Art for Sustainability) call for proposals

The project will address the issue of the ecological crisis from the imperial and colonial viewpoint that naturalises the destruction of ecosystems, led by the mediator José Iglesias García-Arenal and a group of six young people from the south of the province of Badajoz.

The project 'Solar Narratives' will participate in the activity 'Franco's colonisation and capitalist emptying'.

The programme is organised by the Complutense University of Madrid and Carleton University, and consists of activities in Valladolid today and tomorrow, and León during the weekend.

The work will be inaugurated next spring and aims to restore the community's relationship with its water heritage and create a social space for exchange and dialogue.

Concomitentes celebrates five years

Today the project has seven mediation processes, two of which have been completed.

The winning project will be announced on 15 October.

Four experts will select the winning project of the ‘Youth Art for Sustainability Call for Proposals’.’

Along with the coordinator of Concomitentes, Fran Quiroga; Pepa Octavio from the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation; and Maral Kekejian, from the Coordination Office of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, will be Carmen Haro, Christian Alonso, María Sánchez and Matías Rubio. The call seeks to initiate a new participatory artistic process that addresses an environmental challenge.

The deadline for submitting projects for the ‘Youth Art for Sustainability Call for Proposals’ has been extended until 15 September.

This new date replaces the initial deadline, which was set for next Wednesday, 6 September.

Spanish Presidency for the Council of the European Union supports Concomitentes

The support is aimed at Concomitentes to reinforce the role of artistic mediation as a fundamental role in Europe for the generation of citizen agency and the capacity of art to influence sustainability. The support also seeks to strengthen the European dimension of Concomitentes and enhance the visibility of the projects carried out by the national territory throughout the Spanish Presidency in the coming months.

The 'Diversorium' project will participate in the pre-biennial research phase of 'Manifesta 15 Barcelona'.
