Osias Yanov is the chosen artist for Diversorium

The Argentinian artist, Osias Yanov, will be in charge of developing the ‘Diversorium, living arts and space for coexistence’, which will take place in Barcelona in 2022.

Osías, who is currently in the midst of creative and production work in Buenos Aires, is characterised by working a a multidisciplinary work combining celebration, installation, sculpture and video. An artistic practice that confronts the stereotypical forms of control of subjectivity and intersects with the queer theory, the night party and community work.

Barcelona's concomitance starts in 2018 with its mediator, Veronica Valentini, This is the wish expressed by two activists from the Barcelona Office for Independent Living (OVI), Antonio Centeno y Maria Oliver to generate a a meeting space centred on celebration, which also incorporates functional diversity to «dance» together with the different affective and invisible communities in society.

Osias tells us how he connects this premise and commission with his own artistic career., and how the conversation and exchange with the commissioners is enriching their work: “It is an interesting work that interweaves the angles of activism, politics and economics (...) In this context, the work with Antonio and María is oriented towards seeing what things need to be dismantled and what subjectivities need to emerge in the link that is created between functional diversity, enjoyment and fiesta”.

Details of when the Diversorium will take place and when we will be able to enjoy Osias Yanov's artistic proposal will be revealed over the coming weeks.
