Online talk with Luis Ignacio García

Luis Ignacio García’s talk, Aesthetics of democracy in an age of neofascism, is framed in the wider context of Arts for Democracy: What can art do to nurture democracy?, an online gathering organised by Concomitentes that aims to create a space for collective reflection and collaborative learning, connecting socially engaged artistic practices with organizations expert in democratic strengthening across Europe.

Luis Ignacio García holds a PhD in Philosophy and is a professor at the National University of Córdoba and a researcher at CONICET (Argentina). His work explores the intersections of aesthetics, political theory, and contemporary philosophy, always in dialogue with current debates. He has written on art and memory, mourning and the pandemic, and more recently, on hate speech and the rise of the far-right. He is the author of the recently published Fascismo cosplay (“Cosplay Fascism”), an essay that explores the convulsive energies harnessed by the right wing while proposing strategic tools that treat the ruins of neoliberalism as both a possibility and a contested terrain.
