The work of the nurses who care for the children in the Paediatric ICU goes far beyond mere nursing work. Without specialised knowledge, they act as psychologists for the children and their families, as teachers who teach them about body and health care, as clowns who entertain and make them laugh when they are having a hard time, and even as fathers and mothers when they are absent. Therefore, in practice and in the absence of a psychology professional, everything related to the mental health and emotional care of children and families is managed by those who spend the most time caring for them: the nursing staff. How can a work of art or a cultural product help in this context? That is what this concomitance seeks to address.

The publishing house Triqueta Verde relaunches the illustrated short story, 'Hospitalario' by El Hematocrítico and Cynthia Hierro
The book, which is already in bookshops throughout Spain in Galician, Spanish and Catalan, is one of the three artistic works of Concomitentes' 'Paediatric ICU' project, which aims to support nursing staff in the emotional care of paediatric patients.
Paediatric ICU' closes a cycle and begins the period of expansion to hospitals throughout Spain.
At the event 'Culture that heals', which took place on 1 June at CaixaForum Madrid, the results and balance of the project were presented, which seeks to improve the emotional care of paediatric patients through a podcast, a mobile library (cuidateca) and the illustrated story 'Hospitalario'.
Concomitentes presents in Madrid the results of five years of work on 'Paediatric ICU'.
The event 'Culture that heals', which will take place at CaixaForum Madrid, will reconstruct the journey of the participatory process, led by the mediator Felipe G. Gil of ZEMOS98, together with a group of five professionals from the nursing staff of the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital in Tenerife.
