Throughout this session, the aim is to debate the role of art and its commitment to the environment, underlining the need to re-weave a society-territory encounter. In addition to this objective, which is one of the general objectives of the European project, this session seeks to reflect on how to <strong>art strengthens mechanisms for communities to self-manage their territory<\/strong>. Already the next day, the <u>friday 26th may<\/u>The visit will include a visit to the Monte Vecinal de Couso, self-managed by the neighbours and owners of the territory, where the participative artistic process linked to the European project '....<a href=\"https:\/\/concomitentes.org\/en\/concomitances\/common-mountain\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Common Land<\/a>'.<\/p>\n<p>The project '<u><a href=\"https:\/\/artlivinglab.eu\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Art Living Lab for Sustainability<\/a><\/u>', - financed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/concomitentes.org\/en\/diary\/concomitentes-wins-support-from-the-european-commission-through-the-creative-europe-programme\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">European Commission<\/a> and led by Concomitentes-, has the challenge of addressing three community management mechanisms: that of the bush with '...' and '...'.<a href=\"https:\/\/artlivinglab.eu\/livinglabs\/land-commons\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Common Land<\/a>' (Monte Vecinal de Couso, Galicia, Spain); the clay with '.<a href=\"https:\/\/artlivinglab.eu\/livinglabs\/clay-commons\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Clay Commons<\/a>(Boom, Flanders, Belgium); and that of water with '.<a href=\"https:\/\/artlivinglab.eu\/livinglabs\/water-commons\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Water Commons<\/a>(Haute-Jura Regional Nature Park, France).<\/p>\n<p>In these three territories, participatory processes will be developed through a methodology based on mediation (Living Labs), which is used in the network of Nouveaux Commanditaires projects. These three participatory processes will culminate in the definition of a citizen artistic commission that will inspire the work of an artist to respond, through an artistic proposal based on nature, to the environmental challenges identified in these three environments.<\/p>\n<figure data-ratio=\"auto\">\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/concomitentes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/img_9100.jpg\" alt=\"The meetings in Galicia, mediated by Natalia Balseiro, have already started last March.\u00a9 Andreia Iglesias\"><figcaption>\n    The meetings in Galicia, mediated by Natalia Balseiro, have already started last March. \u00a9 Andreia Iglesias  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The agenda of the two days<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <u>25 May<\/u> will start with a public meeting entitled <strong>Art as a meeting place<\/strong> in Santiago de Compostela, in the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/R%C3%BAa+do+Preguntoiro,+1,+15704+Santiago+de+Compostela,+A+Coru%C3%B1a\/@42.8811757,-8.5424273,19.78z\/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0xd2efe4436aa7e9d:0x89982c4157bd3e90!8m2!3d42.8810177!4d-8.5423404!16s%2Fg%2F11c11p535v?shorturl=1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Zone C, R\u00faa Preguntorio<\/a> 1 at 17.00 hrs<\/u>The event will be an open conversation with the artist of the Concomitentes project, Legado Cuidado, Carme Nogueira; Amanda Crabtree, expert in mediation training and coordinator of La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Nouveaux Commanditaires; Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Legierse, art curator and coordinator of De Nieuwe Opdrachtgevers; and Fran Quiroga, transdisciplinary researcher and coordinator of Concomitentes. The speakers will explore the power of art to generate meeting places that facilitate citizen agency, underlining the impact beyond the production of an artistic work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>**The talks will combine Galician and English.<\/strong>**<\/p>\n<p>The <u>26th May at 17.00hrs<\/u>will take place on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Boucia,+3,+36389+Gondomar,+Pontevedra\/@42.0849412,-8.7421798,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0xd258e73fc6c83b7:0x3ee27739fa5cb18b!8m2!3d42.0849412!4d-8.7421798!16s%2Fg%2F11crw1fcdg\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Communal Route' through the Couso Neighbourhood Mount<\/a><\/strong>The European project 'Tierra Com\u00fan' in Spain, mediated by Natalia Balseiro. During the tour, different experts will share details about the history and community management of the neighbourhood forest in Galicia, (approximately 25% of the Galician territory is self-managed by its communities). Xos\u00e9 Ant\u00f3n Araujo, president of the community of Montes de Couso; Natalia Balseiro and David Soto, professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela will participate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the route, at 7 p.m., in the bathing area of the mountain, there will be a conversation with Benito Burgos, Deputy Director General for Cultural Cooperation with the Autonomous Communities of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport and coordinator of the Culture and Ruralities programme, on the need to diversify the cultural offer in rural areas.
