On 23 October, the Canarian concomitance UCI Paediatrics met its mediator at the Parainfo of the University of La Laguna, Felipe G. Gil<\/a>, together with three of the five commissioners, -Quique Chinea, Lili Quintero and Ruym\u00e1n Miranda-, and three of the four artists of the project, -Quique Chinea, Lili Quintero and Ruym\u00e1n Miranda-, and three of the four artists of the project, -Quique Chinea and Ruym\u00e1n Miranda-.Elena Cabrera<\/a>, director of the podcast; Miguel L\u00f3pez The Hematocritic<\/a>, The graphic story was created together with the illustrator from the Canary Islands, Cynthia Hierro<\/a>; and the architect, Artemi Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a>, which will spearhead the construction of a mobile library -, in a public discussion that included an exchange on participatory practices and mediation, as well as some of the keys that define this project, which straddles the social, artistic and health fields.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The occasion of having, for the first time, the entire team that has been working on the project for more than three years and that has been expanding with the incorporation of artists throughout this 2021, was celebrated with two surprises for the audience that accompanied them. On the one hand, the issuance of the teaser<\/em> of the podcast season,<\/strong> which has now completed three of the five chapters and is entering the final phase of production; and on the other hand, theebroadcast and recording of the meeting in streaming<\/em> <\/strong>(link here<\/a><\/u>), to make it the sixth chapter that will complete the podcast collection. <\/p>\n

\u201cA hospital is a place where there is pain, but above all where there are people in the process of healing, of being cured. And, above all, there are many people taking care of others\u201d, the mediator began his speech. Thus, through questions such as What memories do you have of your childhood where someone was looking after you?<\/em>, How to turn this hostile place into a welcoming environment?<\/em>, do you believe that culture can be healing?<\/em> o What situations have you experienced where you felt that the artistic or creative affected your emotional state and accompanied you in a complicated situation?<\/em>, the conversation was reconstructing the professional profile of the nursing staff, who are the project's clients, and the tools they use in their day-to-day work.<\/strong>, The reality of their work, their needs and shortcomings were clearly outlined. In addition, the narrative of the artists showed how culture and art can help them to connect emotionally with the young patients and their families. <\/p>\n

All this, with the mediation and guidance work carried out by the Concomitentes project itself, led by Felipe G. Gil, as a way of channelling such an exciting journey.<\/strong>e as not lacking in obstacles and challenges: \u201cWhen we say that culture is a common good, we mean that it is necessary to stop talking for \u2018us\u2019 if we want to belong to \u2018everyone\u2019. It is not so much a question of building bridges from culture to other instances or areas of knowledge, but rather of digging tunnels that allow us to weave alliances between one world and another. Cultural mediation, which has been our role in the project, consists of constructing a common language between the sanitary and the artistic\u201d, explained Felipe G. Gil in one of the key parts of his intervention, almost at the end of the session. The mediator added: \u201cWhen culture takes root in other processes, the impact on people's lives is much more significant. Culture then ceases to be autonomous and useless, as those who do not understand this potential argue, to be, as Bel\u00e9n Gopegui said, not a part of the world, but the expression of it, to be everywhere and nowhere\u201d.<\/p>\n
