The participatory art call Confabular M\u00e1s Democracia has closed its first phase with the preselection of five initiatives. In the second phase, these projects will be evaluated by the selection committee of this edition. At the end of the second phase, two selected projects will become part of the Concomitentes network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many thanks to all the people, collectives and groups who submitted a project under this call, imagining how to strengthen democracy from their own territories and contexts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pre-selected projects:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n PERI-HOLIDERS<\/strong> It seeks to activate new forms of civic participation and dissent in the public space, connecting the village of O Carballi\u00f1o with its rural peripheries. The initiative questions dominant identity narratives associated with octopus and popular festivals, focusing on socio-spatial inequalities, the fragility of associative networks, and the lack of spaces for contemporary culture. Against a model of public space linked to consumption and tourism promotion, the project proposes opening spaces for dialogue between diverse individuals and collectives, recognizing shared conflicts and needs, and building a collective artistic commission that allows imagining other forms of coexistence and democratic participation. A proposal promoted by the cultural action collective Entrelazada As aqueloutradas, with the mediation of Branca Alb\u00e1n, which advocates culture as a tool for social transformation and seeks to redefine the idea of the periphery through collaboration, creativity, and the construction of common futures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Location:<\/strong> Either Carballi\u00f1o, Ourense, Galicia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dreaming of possible utopias of a free childhood<\/strong> It is a participatory project that seeks to open up a space for listening and participation for girls, boys and adolescents who live under a protection system where there are numerous cases of violence and where the fundamental decisions about their lives depend largely on other people. The initiative puts the focus on issues such as autonomy, freedom, coexistence and the right to participate in decisions that affect their lives, highlighting the limitations and situations of violence experienced by some of these childhoods. From a perspective that links children\u2019s rights with the strengthening of democracy, the project proposes questioning who has a voice in the construction of the collective future and advocating for the listening of those who are usually excluded from decision-making spaces. A proposal promoted by the Madrecitas collective with the mediation of Francisco Godoy Vega that invites us to imagine what democracy will be like in fifty years, starting from a fundamental question: what kind of democratic society can we build if we do not guarantee today that all childhoods are heard and can decide about their own future?.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Location: Catalonia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Impropriate<\/strong> It seeks to imagine and test new forms of representation and collective decision-making in the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona, incorporating voices and bodies that are usually excluded from the spaces of political participation. Drawing on the legacy of 15M and its question about who represents us, the initiative, mediated by Ibai Gorriti, seeks to address the barriers that hinder the democratic participation of young people, migrants, racialized people, and queer people, especially those living in situations of precariousness, lacking the right to vote or having less time and resources to engage in community life. Through a process of listening and collective artistic creation, the project proposes exploring more inclusive models of self-governance capable of recognizing the diversity of the neighborhood and distributing power without renouncing direct participation. Driven by a young group with a gender, racial, and class perspective, and with experience in direct democracy and self-management practices, La Impr\u00f2pia proposes how to build forms of democracy that respond to the needs of those who have historically been left out of collective decisions, imagining new ways to represent ourselves and decide together for the next fifty years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Location:<\/strong> Raval, Barcelona, Catalonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Heirs of a promise: memory, housing and collective futures<\/strong> It is a project promoted by the 7 Minutes of Gloria collective that seeks to explore how art, theater, and fiction can contribute to imagining more just, accessible, and community-based housing and living models. Through intergenerational dialogue, the project proposes to recover the memory of neighborhood struggles, such as the one led by the Madrid neighborhood of Cerro Belmonte against the threat of expropriation, and to relate it to current experiences of collective organization and alternative housing. Through collective artistic creation processes, the collective seeks to reclaim utopia and shared promises as tools for questioning dominant models and imagining desirable futures, connecting the experiences of those who have been defending their homes for decades with the concerns of younger generations. A proposal that understands artistic creation as a space to activate memory, strengthen community organization, and explore other ways of living and caring for ourselves collectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Location:<\/strong> Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Solar Punk: dare to imagine a future in which everything has turned out well<\/strong> It is a participatory project that invites young people to recover the ability to imagine desirable and livable futures, understanding the future as a space of possibility, illusion and collective transformation. The initiative stems from the growing sense of disquiet and uncertainty about the future, especially among young people from Castilla y Le\u00f3n and other territories affected by the expansion of large extractive projects and energy infrastructures. Faced with despair and the difficulty of imagining alternatives, the project proposes to generate spaces for collective reflection to identify what we need to root ourselves, live and develop in our territories. Inspired by the imagination solar punk<\/em>, The proposal presents a vision of progress that integrates technology, nature, and community, advocating for development models that protect ecosystems and promote more sustainable, collaborative, and connected ways of life.
