We are at a time when we need new ways of caring for and listening to nature. In this first edition of the Jornades Enredades we propose to generate a space of confluence between science, art and citizen participation to rebalance our relationship with the sea. The 7 de novembre, <\/strong>a'Aula 1 of the CCCB <\/strong>(Barcelona), we will seek to imagine and assimilate new ways of relating to the sea: as a subject of law, as a collective memory and as a shared future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deciding the sea<\/em> is an invitation to become entangled: to weave unlikely alliances between neighbours, researchers, artists and activists. We come together to think about how to talk to the sea, to open up processes of deep listening that transcend disciplinary languages and to explore how it is possible to give sight to non-human beings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference will be in Spanish and will include translation into Catalan sign language.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference is divided into three acts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first, we look at the struggle for the recognition of the rights of marine ecosystems. From the legal and political experience around the Mar Menor to the academic and social debates taking place in other latitudes, we ask how we can translate the link between community and environment into rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second, we move on to ecosocial parliaments: spaces of political and cultural imagination that assert new forms of collective decision-making. Here, artistic, social and community practices come together to think about the future of shared territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the tancament invites us to a sensorial drift. Through a performative action by Ferran Lega, the river plants are activated as a sonorous cosmos, reminding us that listening can also be a form of knowledge and eco-social care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This meeting, promoted by Concomitentes with the collaboration of the CCCB and the support of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, does not aim to offer closed answers, but rather to open up questions around the following questions: What does it mean that the sea has a view? How is living things legislated? What role do art and political imagination have in the regeneration of our ecologies?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lucia Casani <\/strong>(Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in Spain)<\/summary>\n

is the General Director for Spain of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation. With a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid, she began her career in film and advertising projects before joining La Casa Encendida in 2002, where she was coordinator of Audiovisuals, director of Culture and, since 2014, general director. Under her leadership, La Casa Encendida established itself as a benchmark space for contemporary culture and social and environmental thought, promoting a multidisciplinary, accessible and international programme. Its incorporation into the Foundation coincides with the new global strategy 2024-2028, contributing to a period of institutional maturity and renewal.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Fran Quiroga <\/strong>(Concomitant)<\/summary>\n

is a transdisciplinary researcher and Director of Concomitents. He has conducted experimental research such as Montenoso<\/em>, Rare Parties<\/em> o Ruraldecolonised<\/em> in art centres such as Matadero Madrid, CGAC and MUSAC. He is also coordinator of the project Art Living Lab for Sustainability<\/em>, financed by the European Commission. Judit Carrera<\/strong> (CCCB)<\/summary>\n

is the Director of the CCCB. She holds a degree in Political Science (UAB) and a Diploma of Advanced Studies at Sciences Po Paris. She has worked at UNESCO's Analysis and Foresight Office and has directed thought and debate programmes at the CCCB. With more than 25 years of experience in culture and international relations, she has collaborated with European institutions and universities, given international conferences and participated in juries and media. In 2022 she received the Difusi\u00f3 award and was named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.

Teresa Vicente<\/strong>  (University of Murcia)<\/summary>\n

is Professor of Philosophy of Law and Director of the Chair of Human Rights and the Rights of Nature at the University of Murcia. After practising law, she has specialised in ecological justice, social rights and legal feminism. She has led pioneering initiatives in Spain, such as the Popular Legislative Initiative that gave legal personality to the Mar Menor (2019). Her work in defence of the environment and collective rights won her the Goldman Environmental Prize in 2024. In addition, he has participated in numerous research projects and academic publications on natural rights and sustainability, combining legal research with social and community action.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Isabel Pont Castej\u00f3n<\/strong> (Autonomous University of Barcelona)<\/summary>\n

holds a PhD in Law and is a lecturer in Administrative Law at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with a background in environmental law since 1985. She has been a reinforcement magistrate in administrative litigation and has practised as a lawyer, advising public entities such as the Port Authority of Barcelona. She has directed European projects on environmental impact assessment and participates in scientific and advisory committees on sustainability and coastal zone management. Her work combines teaching, research and legal advice, contributing to the development of environmental policies in Spain. In the period 2022-2025 she has served as director of the Centre of Excellence in Research, three times accredited as Maria de Maeztu. It is the ICTA-UAB.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Juan Manuel Zaragoza<\/strong> (University of Murcia)<\/summary>\n

holds a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science from the Autonomous University of Madrid and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Murcia. He has been a Marie Curie and Leonardo-Fundaci\u00f3n BBVA fellow, and has taught Bioethics and Philosophy at several universities. Between 2018 and 2020 he directed the Master in Cultural Management at the University of Murcia and, since 2021, he has been editor in chief of the journal Thinking on the sidelines<\/em>. His work combines academic research, cultural management and public communication of philosophy through articles and contributions to the press and local newspapers.

is a lecturer in contemporary art history at the University of Lleida and director of the project Hybrid Ecologies of the Llobregat Delta<\/em>. She works in the fields of critical posthumanities and environmental humanities. Her research has focused on multi-species relations, queer ecologies and natural and cultural extractivism. She has extensive experience in research, teaching, management, coordination, production and communication of commissioning, mediation and artistic production projects.

He is currently developing the video installation Marfantes<\/em> on the future of the Ebro Delta, with the support of the Carasso Foundation.

She is founding director of E.M.M.A.<\/em> i founding co-director of BAR project<\/em>, two self-managed curatorial organisations that it considers as tools for thought, imagination and action. Through them, it develops an annual public programme of research, production and presentation that moves to the south of the art system, a residency programme for international artists and curators, and the transdisciplinary training programme BAR TOOL<\/em>, of which she is the tutor, both in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
